Your safety - our priority

Security through camouflage

We know how important discretion and security are to you. Therefore discretion and safety are our top priorities. The app can be used anonymously and free of charge and is distributed to those affected in a protected manner - i.e. away from the control of the person perpetrating the violence in the relationship. The app is aimed at all cis women, trans* women and non-binary people who are affected by gender-based intimate partner violence (IPV). It is not accessible in standard app stores. The App of Gewaltfrei in die Zukunft is designed in such a way that it appears to outsiders like an everyday fitness or weather app. Only you know the secret - through a special mechanism known only to you, the app transforms and reveals its true functions: a safe haven for those affected by gender-based IPV. In addition to its customizable camouflage to suit the lifestyle of those affected, the app offers a low-threshold introduction to self-help without having to confide in a stranger first. The app thus reaches those affected in one of the most important and previously inaccessible places in the fight against violence: their own home.

Protected documentation with one click

With the "Gewaltfrei in die Zukunft App" you can discreetly document incidents of gender-based IPV. Record dates, times, descriptions and even photos or audio recordings securely in the app. This documentation can be crucial for future legal action and provides you with a solid basis to prove your situation. The documentation should also enable the empowerment of people affected by intimate partner and gender-based violence and help them to understand their own situation by providing information about different forms of violence. At best, the app also helps to collect evidence against the perpetrator by enabling those affected the protected documentation of the assault. Developed on an interdisciplinary basis, the app serves as a bridge to the existing help system in. The aim is to introduce the app across five federal states in Germany by 2026.

Distribution of the app

Protected distribution

The app is distributed in a protected manner. This means that it is not publicly accessible in the standard app stores. This serves to protect those affected. We are always on the lookout for people, associations, organizations and institutions that have contact with those affected. At the moment, we are gradually distributing the app in a protected manner throughout Berlin and the regions of Hanover, Oldenburg and Braunschweig in Lower Saxony.

We need you

Contact us via the general contact form and select "Distribution" as the reason for your request if your organization is based in the regions mentioned. We want to roll out the app nationwide in a total of five federal states by the end of 2026 and are working hard to be able to roll out the app further after the funding period so that it can be available nationwide in the future. We are currently in negotiations with other federal states. Because distribution must be politically wanted. We are also dependent on your help here. If you would like to support us so that we can also distribute the app in your federal state and region, please also write to us via the contact form and also to your social ministry at state level that you think it is absolutely necessary that such an innovative and digital support service as the GfZ app must also be available in your federal state. Thank you for your support!
